The Conversation
October 18, 2008 @ 9:30pm
Elative's Kyung Min attended The Conversation this weekend, a conference on the future of cinema, games, and online video, with particular emphasis on the new tools, distribution methods, and rules of the new era of rich media. Speakers included representatives from Dreamworks Animation (showing off their new digital 3D technology), Netflix, JibJab, YouTube, Webby Awards, Workbook Project, and more.
There were many parallels to other industries in the entertainment sector, particularly music, as it's no longer about wishing and praying for that big distribution deal. Instead, filmmakers and content creators taking on more of the marketing and distribution into their own hands, using various metamorphoses of web browsers and the internet for the vital communications paths to their target audiences.
