Red Octane

Description

Andrew Kim built and executed Guitar Hero’s tradeshows and events. He was responsible in building concepts, structure a theme, and executing an overnight sensation.

Guitar Hero the company, then known as RedOctane, was a relatively new company to the video game publishing industry when Andrew was planning and designing the events marketing efforts for the Guitar Hero product. As Guitar Hero caught on fire with the entire nation, RedOctane became a well known brand, with the Guitar Hero name instantly becoming an integral part of popular culture.

Andrew was part of the planning processing of launching the original Guitar Hero product, as well as working with partners in private events, at the 2006 E3 – Electronics Entertainment Expo, the premiere show for the video game industry. Soon after a successful show, RedOctane was acquired by Activision.

* This work was completed by Andrew Kim, Events Marketing Manager of Elative Marketing, while employed by RedOctane as Events Coordinator of Publishing and Marketing.
